Dr. Putnam is a fellowship trained hand and upper limb surgeon with residency training in Orthopaedic Surgery. A native of Ohio, Dr. Putnam earned her undergraduate degree at Miami University in Oxford, OH. She continued her training at Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine in Huntington, WV. Dr. Putnam completed her orthopaedic surgical residency at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Phoenix, prior to her Hand and Upper Limb Fellowship at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA.

Dr. Putnam has presented at the Arizona Orthopaedic Society Annual Meetings, the Western Orthopaedic Association, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand Annual Meetings and the Orthopaedic Research Society. She has published in Journal of Wrist Surgery, Arthroscopy Techniques, The Journal of Hand Surgery, American Journal of Sports Medicine and Techniques in Orthopaedics. Her presentations and publications include research on scaphoid nonunion fixation, plate versus nail fixation for humeral shaft fractures, techniques for flexor tendon repairs, and difficult distal radius fracture dislocations. Currently, her research focuses include improving instrument ergonomics and communication in interhospital transfers.

Dr. Putnam has worked as a medical volunteer in Ecuador, Honduras and Costa Rica. An avid runner, she served as Race Director for several 5k races, raising money for local charities and medical mission trips.

While she treats various musculoskeletal pathologies, she has a special interest treating in carpal pathology, including scaphoid nonunion and malunion, arthritis, and traumatic upper extremity injuries.
